FG Announces the Launch and roll out the National GEEP 2.0 fund Across applicant
At the weekend, Sadiya Umar Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, began the program's national phase at the Daura Kasuwar Kofar 'Yan Kudu Market along Daura Road in Katsina State.
During the check presentations to small-scale farmers and businesswomen, Minister Umar Farouq stated that the interest-free loans to the recipients were in keeping with President Muhammadu Buhari's declared commitment to combat poverty and its terrible effects from all fronts.
The President Muhammadu Buhari administration's Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) was created to provide additional opportunities for the poor, vulnerable, and low-income Nigerians, particularly those who are engaged in viable informal productive activities with minimal financial requirements but have never had access to loans from the formal financial sector.
The most vulnerable members of our society, including widows, children, people with disabilities, and internally displaced people, are to be given precedence.
In total, 59,161 potential beneficiaries were registered across the 34 LGAs of Katsina State, but only 13,000 of them were validated and approved to receive interest-free loans during the program's first phase, and new registration has not yet started. The second phase of registration for 2022, in which more vulnerable individuals and groups will be openly registered by GEEP-trained Desk Officers at National Orientation Agency offices throughout the 774 LGAs nationally, would be made publically known by the Ministry.
According to the minister, the beneficiaries can be verified, and the selection procedure was carried out in a transparent manner. These chosen recipients have all been opened bank accounts, received ATM cards, and are currently being counted as part of our purposeful efforts to increase the financial inclusion of our underprivileged population.
Three distinct items are part of GEEP 2.0. While MarketMoni's loan of N50,000 is for underprivileged and marginalized women like widows, divorcees, and other vulnerable groups, Tradermoni's loan of N50,000 is intended to uplift the underprivileged and disadvantaged youths between the ages of 18 and 40.
Small-scale farmers in the communities can increase their agricultural production and inclusion in commercial farming by applying for a FarmerMoni loan between N50,000 and N300,000.
The National Roll-Out announces the simultaneous introduction and disbursement of loans across all states.
